Tunnel Containers

Double Door Containers, also known as Tunnel Containers or Tunnel-tainers, are a specialized version of the standard General Purpose Containers. These containers are equipped with doors at both short ends, creating a tunnel-like effect when both doors are opened. This unique design makes them ideal for a variety of applications, including quick loading, unloading, and sorting of goods.

Construction and Design

Double Door Containers are constructed from either aluminum or steel, providing durability and strength for various transportation needs. They can serve as versatile storage solutions or even be repurposed as general-purpose Dry Containers by permanently sealing one of the doors.

Unlike standard shipping containers, Tunnel Containers feature double doors at both ends. These containers are either built from scratch with this design or modified from a standard 20ft or 40ft shipping container. In the modification process, the solid end of the container is removed back to the corner posts, and a new set of double doors is welded in place, creating two-way access.

Practical Uses of Tunnel Containers

As Tunnels: The dual-door design of Tunnel Containers makes them ideal for use as walk-through or drive-through tunnels. This is particularly useful for clients and customers who need easy access from both ends, whether for temporary passage or as a part of a more permanent structure.

For Easy Access Storage: These containers provide an excellent storage solution, especially when quick and easy access is needed from both ends. The two-way access allows for efficient management of stock levels, making it easier to retrieve items from either side. For example, a 20ft Tunnel Container can be partitioned to create two 10ft storage units, each with its own set of double doors.

For International Shipping: While not as commonly used as standard containers for overseas shipping, Tunnel Containers can still be utilized for this purpose. To ensure they meet shipping industry standards, they can be fitted with valid CSC plates, certifying their suitability for international transport.

Conclusion

Double Door Containers or Tunnel Containers offer a unique and flexible solution for various storage and transportation needs. Whether used as tunnels, for easy access storage, or even for international shipping, their design provides numerous advantages that make them a valuable asset in logistics and beyond.
