Ventilated Containers 22V1

**Understanding Dry Van and Ventilated Containers**

**Dry Van Containers**

Dry van containers are essential for transporting general or dry freight. Constructed from durable materials such as aluminum or steel, these containers are designed to be watertight, offering protection from external elements. They are equipped with doors on one side and lack any ventilation system, making them unsuitable for carrying liquid goods. Commonly referred to as dry cargo containers, they are primarily used for shipping nonperishable items, ensuring that the cargo remains secure and unaffected by moisture.

**Ventilated Containers**

Ventilated containers, as the name suggests, are equipped with specialized air vents or openings, typically located on the top and bottom side rails of the container. These vents can also be custom-fitted depending on the specific needs of the cargo.

These containers are often called ‘coffee containers’ due to their common use in transporting coffee beans, cocoa beans, and other high-moisture goods. The ventilation system helps to maintain airflow, preventing moisture build-up and ensuring that the contents are kept in optimal condition during transit.

Both dry van and ventilated containers play crucial roles in the shipping industry, each tailored to meet the specific needs of different types of cargo.
